The Story of a Painting | Part 1 | 'The Calm'
- Feb 21, 2018
- 1 min read
As part of my series 'The Waves', each painting has an accompanying written piece. These were written whilst in deep work and completely absorbed in the painting process - a meditative style of creating I have begun to use. They reflect the ideas and themes behind the work. They are raw, pure and straight from the heart. They are part of the art itself. Each piece links to the next, so please return to read the whole series. Enjoy.

The Calm
Standing at the edge of the ocean,
have you ever had that feeling
of complete calmness?
The gentle waves just touching your toes.
The white bubbles foaming and then disappearing.
The quiet lapse of the sea moving beneath you.
The glisten of the sun reflecting off the water.
And the vastness ahead of you.
The never ending space between you and the world.
You're at peace.
You feel tiny, insignificant and yet whole too.
You're alone perhaps, but not lonely.
Just comforted by the sounds and the movement of the waves.
You're at one with wth everything that matters.
You're whole, complete, enough.
Everything makes sense, in that moment.
You are calm, content, clear.

Limited edition prints of 'The Calm', as well as the original painting, can be found in my store here.
With love,
